Best Stunts from Mission Impossible Films : Performed By Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise Cliff Jump

This week we see the return of Ethan Hunt, Tom’s Cruise’s death-defying IMF agent, who will be hitting the big screen for the 7th time with Mission Impossible : Dead Reckoning Part One. Cruise has made it a priority to continuously up the ante with insane stunts in each new film and make sure that he is the one that is performing them. Yes, you heard that correct. He performs all of them.

Dead Reckoning: Part One brings one of his most dangerous stunts to date with a motorcycle ride off a massive cliff face while parachuting to safety. It’s an impressive feat and one you must see on the biggest screen possible. Note: They shot this stunt first incase something went wrong and they had to find an alternate plan without Cruise.

In honor of all Tom Cruise’s stunts, GotchaMovies has put together a Top 10 list of what we think are the very best. Enjoy!

10. Free Solo Climbing Cruise : ‘Mission: Impossible II’ (2000)

Mission Impossible II opens with Cruise rock climbing alone in the desert leaping across rocks, dangling one-handed, and performing a pretty great pose for the camera stretched across the rock face.

9. The Langley CIA Break-In : ‘Mission: Impossible’ (1996)

One of the stunts that started it all! In the scene, Hunt drops into the control room and lands just inches from the floor. While not death defying, it is one of the most iconic scenes in MI history.

8. Bathroom Fight : Mission Impossible : Fallout (2018)

2 words: Arm Reload. Watch this scene just for Henry Cavill’s arm reload. Also, this fight scene is one of the greatest action fight sequences put on film that are not involved in the John Wick franchise.

7. Motorcycle Chase : ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ (2015)

One of the absolute best chase sequences in the entire Mission: Impossible franchise, the sequence from Rogue Nation sees Ethan and Benji (Simon Pegg) in hot pursuit of Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson).

6. London Chase : ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ (2018)

The stunt which Tom Cruise broke his ankle while jumping across the roof tops of London. While this shut down filming of Fallout for a while, it didn’t stop Cruise from coming back and continuing all his own stunts.
