Steven Soderbergh Gives Us The Girlfriend Experience with New Trailer

by on November 4, 2015

In 2009, Steven Soderbergh told the story of a Manhattan call girl as she dealt with the hardships associated with her job. It seems the director thinks there is still plenty to explore with the subject, and this leads to today’s release of the first trailer for the Soderbergh-produced The Girlfriend Experience.

The Starz exclusive show looks to explore many of the same themes as its big screen brother. Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road) stars as Christine Reade, a University of Chicago law student, who finds herself sucked into the world of a call-girl by a friend. Control becomes key as Reade attempts to juggle her dual identities and balance both emotional and sexual relationships.

This isn’t the first time Soderbergh has collaborated with premium channels, as he currently executive produces The Knick for Cinemax. Both networks aren’t quite on the same level has HBO, but the more competition the better, at least for the viewers. The Girlfriend Experience will premiere on Starz in 2016 and will run for 13 half-hour episodes.
