Meryl Streep can pick and choose any role that she wants at this point and her next project will team her up with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno).
Cody’s latest script, Ricky and the Flash, already has Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme attached to direct and anything that Steep signs on to is worth noting. Demme and Streep previously worked together on The Manchurian Candidate. Cody’s ear for dialogue and the new leading lady have us very excited for this ensemble.
Ricky and the Flash follows a retired rock star (Streep) who has decided to be a mother to her children after abandoning them for fame and fortune at a young age. Decades later the unwanted mom tries to bond with her estranged children, one of whom is going through a nasty divorce.
The storyline sounds like it’s right up Cody’s alley, and while Juno gave her an Oscar she also found success with Young Adult. Her last film Paradise turned out to be a bomb.
Here’s to hoping Cody, Streep and Demme can turn Ricky and the Flash into a hit!
