Jason Momoa has officially joined the cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as Aquaman.
Momoa had been mentioned as a possible choice for Aquaman, along with Lobo, for months now. But the rumors can finally be laid to rest. He’s best known for his role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, but he also starred in the 2011 adaptation of Conan the Barbarian.
Hitfix has reported that Momoa will simply make an appearance in the film, setting up for a larger role in the Justice League movie. Keep in mind, we have no idea what the plot will be in Dawn of Justice but it makes sense that Aquaman would come to the surface to confront Superman (Henry Cavill) about the massive destruction that went down at the end of Man of Steel.
Dealing with the consequences of that mess could potentially be a great starting point for director Zack Snyder and company to get Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Galdot) and Aquaman interested in finding out more about Superman. I’m sure Aquaman wasn’t very pleased with the destruction from the World Engine that hit the Indian Ocean in Man of Steel.
Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons and Ray Fisher will also star in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. You can see Momoa in his orange and green wetsuit when the movie hits theaters May 6, 2016.
