Dwayne Johnson is ready to battle monsters in all shapes and sizes this summer in Hercules.
Directed by action film vertarn Brett Ratner, 2014’s second Hercules film will follow the Greek demigod as he endures his legendary twelve labours. In the trailer alone we get glimpses of Johnson fighting off the Nemean lion, Lernaean hydra, Erymanthian Boar, and Cerberus.
At the beginning of the year Renny Harlin’s The Legend of Hercules didn’t fair as well with audiences, grossing back a little over half of its production budget. It’s possible that people are tiring of these CGI-stuffed versions of the classic tales, but The Rock’s presence should at least draw in a fair amount of young men into the theater.
Also starring Ian McShane, John Hurt, Joseph Fiennes, Rufus Sewell and newcomer Irina Shayk, Hercules is set to release in the tail end of summer, July 25.
