Dwayne Johnson will be re-teaming with his San Andreas New Line buddies and producer Beau Flynn for the movie Rampage.
This live action feature has already been set for a 2016 summer production and will be based on the classic arcade game from the ’80s Midway Arcade Game that feature three giant monsters. The plot is currently under wraps, but the game’s three giant monsters – a gorilla, a lizard, and a wolf – will certainly be featured. Presumably they will wreck havoc across North America, because why not?
That’s where Johnson steps in, who will star as the big hero in this feature. With San Andreas taking in $415 million worldwide thus far and Furious 7‘s crazy success, it’s clear that The Rock can really bring a crowd to the theater.
Ryan Engle, who wrote Non-Stop, will be penning the script. That’s not bad, seeing as his early 2014 early 2014 thriller starring Liam Neeson faired well amongst critics and theater goers. Hopefully this means we can expect more of a tight, action flick rather than a sprawling disaster feature.
Johnson plans to complete production on Fast & Furious 8 before he continues with Rampage and he is currently shooting Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart.
