CW Contract Renewed

Reports by Variety and others strongly suggest that the CW contract with Netflix is meant to be renewed, taking it away from Hulu. New shows could be added as soon as the contract is signed but many will probably be phased in over the coming years. The finer details of this contract has yet to be agreed upon, as Variety reports.

CW and Netflix had a deal first in 2011 to bring in new series, but rumors suggested CW was trying to setup its own streaming service. That would make a Netflix or Hulu partnership more contentious if CW became a streaming competitor.

Hulu initially declined the partnership because of poor data and details in the contract that dissuaded Hulu. Shows that finish up on their respected network will now be available on Netflix much sooner than usual.
